This odd little spot is accessed directly from the platform, via two or three steps. But where is it?

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

I see my estimate of 'two or three steps' didn't allow for optimism bias.

The trees have grown up a fair bit since 1995!

Anyone know the point of this feature?

I can't find my picture. Took it 4 years ago if I remember right. It's on a memory card somewhere I suspect. I remember  when taking it I thought to myself, that'll make a good forum quiz picture.

I asked station staff at the time what the busts were all about. "No idea, mate" was the reply I got.
