Page 44 of the Conservative manifesto https://s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/manifesto2017/Manifesto2017.pdf says: We will create a national infrastructure police force, bringing together the Civil Nuclear Constabulary, The Ministry of Defence Police and the British Transport Police to improve the protection of critical infrastructure.... Now I know that the MoD police is not the Military Police, but where is the logic in this change - unless it is to try and cover up the 50% cut in the MoD policer budget. |

Would save back office costs for sure. Duties too different to easily combine duties for more flexible workforce, I'd have thought

You can bet that where there are areas currently covered by more than one of these non territorial police forces, it won't just be back office functions being cut. There will be cuts to attested constables too.

These three clearly work together already. BTP▸ called on help from the CNC, and MoD police forces for the armed officers on trains and stations through the past few days.

There has been a substantial or severe threat from international terrorism in the UK▸ since 2010. That didn't stop Theresa May as Home Secretary making cuts in front line policing numbers. I see no commitment from her to increase police numbers. Nor do I see a commitment that numbers in the non territorial police forces will be maintained after a merger. More police means higher taxes. Unless Diane Abbot is doing the maths. |

Remember this is the PM who when the Home Secretary implemented the Windsor Report into UK▸ Policing ............. numbers of Police Officers, Police Stations, Forensic Science, have all reduced and there is "collaboration" across Police borders for things like Dog Units, SOCO, Armed response ............. etc
