Network Rail will be undertaking track work near Redruth and on the St Ives Bay Line between Monday 19 and Thursday 22 March 2018.

They will also use this time to do track replacement work on the St Ives Bay Line and progress the Cornwall re-signalling scheme, which will help to increase the number of trains running through the county.

Sleeper will run between Plymouth and London with a bus link to and from Penzance.

Full details here.

one coach an hour calling at St Erth only
one coach an hour calling at Redruth, Camborne, Hayle, St Erth and Penzance

I hope that’s more than one vehicle on each hourly move, or we shall see capacity issues.

If it’s multi vehicles that’s an improved frequency!

it is not a re-signalling as all of the existing signalling is being retained. It is a signalling enhancement scheme! East Cornwall is due to be commissioned in late April and west Cornwall in October.

Sleeper will run between Plymouth and London with a bus link to and from Penzance.

Full details here.

I was on a Sleeper a few years ago on an Advance ticket to Penzance over a weekend when they'd closed the line. The nice people I spoke to when buying the ticket at Paddington told me that I had to travel from Penzance on the way back or the ticket wasn't valid. This despite the fact that I would be closer to Plymouth than Penzance on the Sunday evening.

I phoned FGW (First Great Western) (as it was back then) and asked if I really had to go to Penzance and use the Rail Replacement Bus Service. Bloke I spoke to said no that's daft if I was going to be nearer Plymouth join the sleeper there don't go to Penzance. If anyone was to question it I was to tell them that I'd spoken to Customer Service who had told me to do that.
