Is there a link to the Hansard record of the event.

There is indeed. Posted earlier in this thread.

Stephen Doughty MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) thanked this forum for its input in his introduction to the debate.

This forum is now immortalised in Hansard!

I would have thought some questions would have been asked about the Devon Metro and new stations at Edginswell and Marsh Barton. Hundreds of houses have been built at the former and hundreds to be built at the latter.

Local news is reporting on the new garden village at Cullompton and a new station.

Could not see any questions from the local MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context)'s.

AFAIK ('as far as I know'), the debate was intended to be about the present/recent performance of GWR (Great Western Railway), and not about future plans for new stations or services.

The are no doubt all sorts of wonderful future plans, but meanwhile present performance is rather lacking.

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards, luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.

Penzance got a good mention with the half hour service said to be delayed until December this year which is depressing.

Did GWR (Great Western Railway) respond to the MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context)? Or did the normal silence continue...
