Talking Didcot ...

Maybe they could bring forward the long term aspiration of a building platform on the west curve. After all there is already an undercover route now half way from the main station through the multi-storey carpark Smiley

What is the longest distance between 'extreme' platforms that exists at present?

I'm thinking
... Watford Junction, 3rd rail lines to St Albans Abbey platform
... King's Cross St Pancras, Victoria Line to Midland Main line
... Dublin Heuston, main station to platform 10 (or is it still in use?)
... Paddington, Praed Street to Hammersmith and City
... Monument / Bank (and aren't they brining Cannon Street into the mix via subway?)

By comparison, what are the longest walks from checkin to boarding gate at Heathrow and Gatwick?

Bristol TM (Train Manager, or Ticket Machine, or Temple Meads (Bristol), depending on context) Platform 1 to west end of Platform 15?

From the Rodalies to metro line 4 at Barcelona Passeig de GrĂ cia has to be a good contender. Terrible station.

I doubt if that's as far as some of the other examples given. And whatever the distance in metres/yards/whatever, it doesn't feel that far, because it's relatively simple: along, across and up.

I normally check in for my flight at home a few days before so as the crow flies its about 13 miles for each. I don't walk though  Grin

Though probably not the longest, it is survival of the fittest when a North Downs Line train fails in P4,5,6 at Reading and everyone needs to sprint over to P15 to catch the fresh set off the depot. It's long enough as it is without having to do it "against the clock".

Felt like a mile. Needed 30 mins to get my breath back ! Never again.
