The flowers are suffering from lack of water so an appeal for station users to bring water butts to the station
Please leave the butts at the highlighland terrace entrance

Any chance you can take all the flowers down to Castle Cary? Plenty of pallet loads of water on the station forecourt this morning, which must have hit the sales by the Butty Man over the Glasto weekend.

incidentally, I see that the car park is closed for another week, next week, due to the NASS festival at Bath & West.

Yes. I didn't know either, so, in my ignorance, I asked Martin in the office what the NASS festival was. His response was that it was 'Very Bad News'. A station to avoid next week, I suppose.

Just finishing the last bottle of water that I picked up at Cary and noticed that the best before date is 21st June. So I withdraw my post. Water that old may be alright for the paying customers, but there is no way that water - more than 10 days AFTER the bb date - should be given to the poor delicate plants. Shock. Horror  Shocked

Even the smallest proportion of micro-organisms in water will multiply at the right temperature, so unless it is kept cool enough (as tap water is when stored in an underground pipe) the number of micro-organisms in water can become excessive in time. Especially as bottled water is not chlorinated (as tap water is).

Water stored in plastic bottles can also leach chemicals out of the plastic, if the water is in there for long enough this can exceed safe values.
