It is laughable how a county believe they should become their own country.
There are some strange people down that way, perhaps the sea air has gotten to them?

Never going to happen, but I guess it keeps certain people in a job
If Cornwall’s 580000 can form a country, then along here in Hampshire can we have 3?

Vatican City qualifies as a country, with a population of about 882.  Grin

Monaco also manages to qualify as a country, with a population of about 39,000.  Smiley

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

I'm pretty sure the people in Yorkshire would be hot on the Cornish heals

From the BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page):

The reason why we are proud to be Cornish

[Image from here is not available to guests]
Truro holds a St Piran's Day Parade annually on 5 March with music, dancing and shop window competitions

St Piran's Day on March 5, widely adopted as Cornwall's national day, is a moment for people in the county, and all over the world, to celebrate their Cornishness.

One song that will be sung lustily is Trelawny , also known as The Song of the Western Men, with lyrics by the Victorian vicar Robert Stephen Hawker.

In a line borrowed from the anthem, BBC Cornwall has been asking people "the reason why" they are proud to describe themselves as Cornish.

Ironically, given St Piran was Irish, he'd probably be regarded as an "incomer" these days, God help him if he purchased a holiday home or drove an SUV!  Cheesy
