There's a film on Talking Pictures this evening that has some rail interest. It's "Another Time, Another Place" on at 19 00. It stars Lana Turner who, after getting herself into a sticky situation in London, decides to head off to Cornwall by train. You get a sequence on the sea wall at Dawlish and then her arrival at a little branch line terminus - Looe (not called that in the film). The Cornish village she goes to is Polperro and the film ends with her catching the train at Looe station to go back to London.
Now, that's not a lot of rail stuff but what there is, is great. I was told about it many years ago by Looe's then County Councillor who was also Chair of our Looe Valley Line Working Party.
The film was made in 1957 and, of course, her journey was behind steam all the way. Here's Lana on the branch line train.
