What a load of twaddle - Totnes is not on the 'riviera line' (Paignton-Newton Abbot) and where he got 18 minutes for Totnes-NTA» (Newton Abbott - next trains) I do not know. 11 mins on an HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)). Likewise, there is no need for an INTERCITY (he said it himself) service to stop at a small town called Teignmouth from Totnes...

Besides, HSTs connect with units at Newton Abbot from Totnes - Teignmouth  Roll Eyes

I think if you read it correctly hes saying a direct service from Totnes to Teignmouth with a stop at Newton Abbot takes apx 18 mins...   Grin

And you can have an evening out in Plymouth from Totnes, just catch the sleeper home at 00:20, sounds perfect to me.....

Very true. Would have thought that the average Totnes folk would rather a night out in the local pub stoned out of their heads. Or is that just the old Totnes stereotype!!

The last time I went to Totnes, some dude was banging a gong every 30 seconds in a park and one chap was walking through the town in just his underpants - "the walk of shame".....

Its a class place!

Also - 25 minutes to drive from Teignmouth to Totnes?  Depends on the time and route I guess, but I am sure that doesn't take into account the sometimes dreadful traffic in Newton.

25 minutes to get out of Totnes in summer! Longer at Penn Inn - that's after the queue to get into Newton.

Newton Abbot is now a farce with many Asda fans blocking the access roads and surrounding areas. Its a nightmare journey to drive if you ask me.

As it happens used the Sleeper to come back to Exeter from Totnes last night, very grateful it allowed me an extra couple of hours with friends at the Seven Stars!

Yeah, Totnes IS a little wierd Wink But having lived there for over a decade I wouldn't swap it for one of the chav/boy racer-infested market towns elsewhere......

....and it has a great train service Smiley

PS agree that the roads around Newton Abbot are dreadful
