ummm, it was a 153 today! 305, NRN (National Radio Network (as used outside the wider London area where CSR predominates)) radio failed, had to fit an entire new one, first train to run was the 1239 I think!

ummm, it was a 153 today! 305, NRN (National Radio Network (as used outside the wider London area where CSR predominates)) radio failed, had to fit an entire new one, first train to run was the 1239 I think!
Shouldn't be a 153 on Falmouth, crazy at peak time.

As long as the something else won't get cancelled without a 153 Falmouth should keep it, it gets busy in the peak as a 150.

You loose time with a pair of 153s as station dwell time is longer, takes far longer to get large amounts of passengers in/out of a pair of 153s than it does a 150.

was due to the 150 being swapped to go to St Ives due to the 30th anniversary of the Park and Ride.

Maybe, but Wessex used to diagram a SINGLE 153 on the Fal branch during the summer months!

Just an observation, but 153370 turned up, rather late, for the 0859 from Nailsea to BTM (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI) but BTM is a commonly used alternative)) this morning.

Is it just me, or are 153s rubbish?   Roll Eyes

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

It was about 20 down on the preceding working to Weston when I passed it. Maybe it was drafted in at short notice to replace something else.

I agree, John: the 0859 is usually a 143 - generally adequate, for the number of commuters at that time.

Last week, however, we had a rare treat: one of my fellow passegers saw the approaching 0859 and exclaimed with surprise, 'Oh, look: two trains in one this morning!'  I didn't have the heart to tell her it was actually just the one train - a three car 158!  Grin

A bit over the top for the number of passengers on that occasion - but it does seem to confirm that the 143s are struggling with reliability.
