I was out and about yesterday and came across this railway line and thought it might be worth an entry in the quiz

I'll offer a guess at the purpose.  Is it a former military site where munitions were stored underground and were loaded/unloaded at the platform on the left?

Yes, Tyneham adjacent to the lane from the village to Warbarrow Bay. Marion was meeting a friend she has known since primary school so I took myself and the dog to revisit Tyneham since the range walks are open until the schools go back.
The attached photograph shows the target railway climbing diagonally from the wooded area near Warbarrow Tout. It meets another target railway seen sa the horizontal line running below the dark green of the bracken.
The second image shows the cable return pulleys on the lower run. Controlled by an motor hidden in a concrete bunker which out of view to the left.
The constant danger of straying off the range walks is encapsulated in the third photo!

Interesting to look at on Google Maps.

There is also a more complex system to the north in Povington, complete with four road shed. This appears also to be a target railway but loco operated?

In the middle of this complex seems to be another target railway

They can be seen on Google and OS (Ordnance Survey) Maps
