There are certain events that have come up in researching "on this day" that are massively significant but perhaps in which public (or freight) transport in not a headline, and perhaps took place in a land far, far from the South West of England.   One such is the industrial accident at Bhopal in India which killed some 3,500 people as a minimum initial estimate, many times that as a consequence, and left many many more than that damaged for life.    There is an account in The Atlantic - here from 2014 which tells the story - I won't say the full story because it could never be "full" in an article.

Recently, a dramatised version (and I suspect liberties have been taken and assumptions made) has been made available on Netflix using the Railway as one of the lead settings and that gives me a better reason to remember Bhopal here on the "Coffee Shop" on this day - with thoughts for those who survived and the families of those who did not.  With admiration of the bravery of some, and a feeling of "we must NEVER let this happen again.
