Sometimes the dead can come back to life. In this case, a west London train line that was last used over 100 years ago could be resurrected.

A new Overground line called the West London Orbital could repurpose train tracks that stopped carrying passengers in 1902. Only using existing train lines, the Orbital would make use of tracks such as the Dudding Hill loop, which runs from Acton to Cricklewood and currently only takes freight trains.

"Over 100 years"? - I remember going over that line on a special excursion - a mystex from St Pancras. Think we ended up somewhere like Portsmouth.

Time Out must be short of material. It's not a new idea, and it doesn't seem to be referencing any new announcement. Still had at least one semaphore signal last time I saw it from the Met line. If it does happen it won't be any time soon.

IIRC^▸ ('if I recall/remember/read correctly') there's quite a lot of work going on behind the scenes and a decision whether to proceed due fairly imminently.

Brent Cross West has already been built with passive provision for platforms so I seem to recall there are only three new stations required, which should make it reasonably affordable.

There was a bit of business in Brent council. I don't think it was anything important in itself - some kind of report back on progress (or lack thereof), but it was enough to trigger some of the media.

Brent of course includes the two important new stations, where new cross-connections would happen: Harleden and Neasden. Mind you, the same radial lines are already connected to the Overground (atbka Mildmay) at Willesden and West Hampstead, so the added journey possibilities are not so great in reality.
