Long article in the latest Rail magazine 1056 of an interview with GWR (Great Western Railway) Programme Director Barry Milsom about the 175 delays.
In summary, outside storage for years has caused damage requiring repair, plus other issues.

There is intention to add another 175 in to passenger service from 16 March to run Plymouth - Penzance - Exeter St Davids - Penzance - Plymouth as there are now 6 serviceable sets that can run in passenger service.  However 175006 broke down again today with a bogie fault and 5Z13 training run was cancelled as a result.

ETA, the diagram will be
2C00 05.33 Plymouth - Penzance
2E06 07.45 Penzance - Exeter St Davids
2C20 11.27 Exeter St Davids - Penzance
2P20 1515 Penzance - Plymouth

Out on the bike this morning passed 175002, immediately north of Starcross, exhibiting an impressive turn of speed. As above running to time on the 2C20 EXD (Exeter St Davids station ) > PNZ.

There is a path for another class delivery from Wolverton tomorrow (Friday), 4 weeks after last one.

https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:K63327/2026-03-20/detailed

I think 6 units are still stored at Ely, and haven't even got to Wolverton yet, and Wolverton often seems to have them about 4 months

Should be 175111 with another two 3-cars pencilled in for April.

There’s also a move in the system for Ely to Wolverton so potentially another 175 to attempt to get working!

175111 arrived at Wolverton 9th October, so has taken 5.5 months.

If another unit arriving today from Ely takes the same duration, will reappear in September

And these would have been considered to be in the best condition!

The move from Ely has been cancelled though.
