From a long time lurker.

I took very early retirement last September after 33+ years on the railway, nearly 29 as quite probably your chauffeur.

I started off as BR (British Rail(ways)) (RIP) before being TUPEd to SW&W, W+W, Wessex then to First Group.

Voted remain but thankfully allowed to emigrate to the EU» (European Union - about).

Plenty of memories and information in the brain still...  If OK and inside the rules of this forum I wish to reply to old comments as I may have either been involved or have additional information regarding an incident.

And there's a thread on this forum with me in a starring role.

It will be well used and I doubt I'll ever get any delay repay compensation.

All of that is great information, UstiImmigrunt - welcome to the Coffee Shop forum!  Smiley

Please do provide us with more details - I'm particularly intrigued by your reference to one of our topics where you have 'a starring role'!  Grin

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Graham took plenty of pictures.

Posting and re-awakening is not only within the rules but encouraged where it logically continues a story. There are exceptions - of 26,058 topics 342 are locked.

As a long-time reader of the Coffee Shop forum, UstiImmigrunt, you must know that Graham taking pictures doesn't particularly help me.

In the past, I've been standing next to him while he took them - and then, a few days later, when he posted them here on the forum, I didn't recognise any of them.

Particularly at Taunton.  Lips sealed

This got me reminiscing to myself and remembering many wonderful occasions and some less positive ones.  Happy times and many more happy times for me to look forward to.
