From National Rail:
"The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Swindon and Didcot Parkway. So they can safely carry out their work, all lines are closed.
As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.
Major disruption is expected until 18:00.
Customer advice:
A very limited rail replacement services is in operation between Bristol Temple Meads / Swindon and Didcot Parkway.
You can use your ticket on Stagecoach Bus route 55 between Swindon and Chippenham, and route S6 between Swindon and Oxford at no extra cost.
You may use your ticket on the following services:
CrossCountry via any reasonable route
Elizabeth line via any reasonable route
Chiltern Railways between Oxford and London Marylebone"

Worryingly this is about the 3rd such incident being dealt with by Emergency Services between Swindon and Didcot in the last week or so.

I note subtly different wording on Journeycheck ...

Quote
We're working with Network Rail and the emergency services to deal with and incident between Swindon and Didcot Parkway as sensitively, quickly and safely as possible.

... and watching elsewhere on social media groups it seems to have a routines about it.  Which SHOULD NOT be ... but I feel lost for suggestions.

Thanks for posting sensitively, members.  I'm not going to 'like' any posts here, because I don't 'like' news of this latest sad incident.

Here on the Coffee Shop forum we do have a lot of information to hopefully support those who may need it: see http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/coffeeshop/index.php?topic=6526.0

We offer our sympathy to all the family and friends of anyone involved in such sad events.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.
