I understand that the average train driver’s salary on the line is £72,465 for a 34-hour, four-day week - which would have risen by £3,261 to £75,726 under the proposed 4.5%.

I'm not sure it'll attract too much public sympathy, and 4.5% is comfortably above CPI (Consumer Prices Index - a measure of inflation).

Is this dispute about more than money?

Thanks for that update here, Ollie. Wink

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

You're welcome, there was a further update yesterday too, which is:

NEW: All planned strikes on Elizabeth Line now cancelled.

ASLEF» (Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen - about)'s executive committee has considered the improved pay offer from MTR (Mass Transit Railway, based in Hong Kong) Elizabeth Line and accepted the new offer. Strikes planned for 27/02, 01/03, 08/03 and 10/03 are therefore cancelled.
