Due to a fault in the signalling system in the BTM (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI) but BTM is a commonly used alternative)) area

Further information on this:

Quote
Cancellations to services between Bristol Temple Meads and Swindon via Bath Spa

Following a fault with the signalling system at Bristol Temple Meads some lines have now reopened. Disruption is expected until 10:00 08/06.

Train services between Bristol Temple Meads and Swindon via Bath Spa and Chippenham are returning to normal but some services may still be cancelled or delayed.

Customer Advice

What has happened?

The signalling system in the Bristol Temple Meads area had failed. This has meant weve been unable to run trains to, from or through Bristol Temple Meads. Most of the signalling system is now working and trains can now start to run through the area. There may be still be some delays and cancellations as no trains had been able to leave our depot in Bristol.

What are we doing about it?

Network Rail specialist staff have been able to reset and restore most of the signalling system. We are now working get our trains and crew in place to start running our normal timetabled service, but there may still be some delays and alterations while we do this.

Risky - it may not start up at all.  Isn't that why some diesel engines are / have been left running for hours?
