2026 really off to a great start............ Roll Eyes

Cancellations to services between Reading and London Paddington

Due to a safety inspection of the track between Reading and London Paddington fewer trains are able to run on some lines.

(TfL» (Transport for London - about) are blaming an OLHE problem, could quite conceivably be both I guess given the state of the infrastructure)

Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until 11:30 17/01.

Or the same, quite likely. Have you ever seen "safety inspection of the OHLE (Over-Head Line Equipment (electrification via catenary))"....or similar. I suspect they include OHLE in 'track' for this purpose.

Delays to services between Newbury and Reading

Due to a fault with the signalling system between Newbury and Reading trains have to run at reduced speed on the line towards Reading.

Train services running to and from these stations may be delayed by up to 15 minutes. Disruption is expected until 18:00 14/02.

Customer Advice
Apologies to customers, due to a fault with the signalling system in the Thatcham area trains on eastbound line have to run at a reduced speed thus incurring delays.

Some semi-fast trains between Newbury and Reading will be cancelled, but all stations will still receive a train service.

Cancellations to services between Reading and London Paddington
Due to urgent repairs to the track at Southall fewer trains are able to run on the line. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Train services between Reading and London Paddington may be cancelled.

Customer Advice
Due to short notice engineering works being done over night, we have had to reduce the number of trains running between Reading and London Paddington tonight. Until Midnight, a more limited train service is operating, although customers can still travel between the two stations. A change at Reading may be necessary for some customers travelling from or to further afield.

However, overnight train services between London Paddington and Reading are cancelled. Although some road transport has been arranged to cover, this is very limited, and so customers are advised to delay their journeys wherever possible.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.
