18th March 2026, Bethesda Church Hall, Trowbridge - close to the station.  West Wiltshire Rail User Group AGM (Annual General Meeting).

20th May 2026, same venue.  Public meeting.

In 2026, there's going to be a lot going on and we will have topical transport speakers relating to our current and future railways in West Wiltshire.

Meeting start formally at 19:30, with us gathering to network and have a cup of tea or coffee from around 19:00.  They finish at around 21:00 for "carriages" or trains home - timed for members (and speakers!) who travel by public transport.

Tomorrow (18.3.2026) - adding a reminder to this thread - West Wiltshire Rail User Group / AGM (Annual General Meeting) - 19:00 for 19:30 at Bethesda Church Hall, Trowbridge.  To be followed by an update from Nina Howe of Transport Focus - all welcome.

All Welcome

The withdrawal of the peak local train (Warminster to Westbury) from passenger service last December has made getting to the meeting awkward - or would have done - from Dilton Marsh.  Thank you to GWR (Great Western Railway) who have - for this one day only - added a stop at 18:08 on less-local train.

A report on the call - from my "thank you" to GWR ... it came from me as I'm the WWRUG» (West Wiltshire Rail Users Group - about) meeting organiser

Thank you for arranging the stop on 1F26 at Dilton Marsh on 18th March (2026) for the West Wiltshire Rail User Group.

I understand that in additions to WWRUG meeting folks, 3 people got off and 2 joined the train, even though it was a one-off and had only been in the journey planner for a couple of days.   According to logging information, the train was 8.5 minutes late from Warminster, and 9.75 minutes late into Westbury, and I understand from a passenger who travelled on the train that even after the Dilton March stop, it was still checked to virtually another halt appropaching signal W305.  This "habit" looks to be very similar to other days, both looking at logs and listening to passenger comments.

Personally I prefer to write from my own experience rather than reports and had intended to travel to Dilton Marsh to catch the train.   However, the 15:40 from Melksham did not leave until until 17:30 - so late that it missed the connection to Dilton Marsh at Westbury.

Confirmation as I read through data and hear reports that the stop does NOT delay the train [further] ... and that it would be used.

Two reports from residents near Dilton Marsh - one who's son isn't able to go to a college course now because he can't get home, and one from a resident changing jobs who's not taking a job in Salisbury because he can't get home.    The lack of a train service really has a serious impact.
