From YouTube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ATKNWwX4Ig&list=RDMM&index=24 - 3:37 minutes of musical celebration.

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

Fair comment, GBM.  Tongue

However, in the spirit of Boardmasters, celebrating music in Cornwall, I'm going to 'bump' this topic.

It's a wonderful tune; think my preferred version is by the Fisherman's Friends.

That said, this song is embedded into our culture, with so many favourite/preferred versions readily available.

Thanks, GBM. Smiley

Meanwhile, I continue to publicise Richard Trevithick, rather than George Stephenson, as the earlier inventor of the steam engine railway locomotive.

From YouTube.

Actually, having been encouraged by two of my fellow admins here on the Coffee Shop forum, I'm now inclined to inflict offer you another YouTube clip, in support of my ongoing campaign to recognize Richard Trevithick as the earlier inventor of railway steam locomotives.

From YouTube, see https://youtube.com/shorts/miwshkCqxHU?is=_g_LdAXh3gqjiZFt - and sorry if it's portrait rather than landscape format (or vice versa) - but that's just how it is on YouTube.
