Nothing major, just a bit of bizarre timetabling!!

Was travelling on 21.55 Westbury to BTM (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI) but BTM is a commonly used alternative)) (ex 20.09 Weymouth) last Sunday Evening.  This service is all stops to BTM.

Arrived at Westbury to find my train on time.  Great!

Then I noticed a 22.01 Semi-fast ex Portsmouth Harbour service.  This service is for cardiff Central and only stopped at Trowbridge, BOA, Bath Spa, BTM then onto Cardiff!

Why would you timetable a fast service to follow a slow, all stops, service to depart just 6 minutes later.  In fact when leaving Westbury, I noticed the 22.01 service in Platform 2.

Its a Sunday evening, there probably wasn't a service from Westbury to BTM since 7pm and now there are 2 services within 6 minutes of eachother, with the faster service following the slower service!  Bizarre!

And guess what, the 22.01 Cardiff Central service had left BTM for Cardiff before we arrived to BTM!

How?

Hi BB

There are several timetable anomolies similar to that, and I'm sure there will be someone along to explain, eg driver swap etc. but I have to agree it can be annoying.
