Trains will operate at half-hourly intervals from 01:00 to 05:00, calling at Ealing Broadway, West Ealing, Hanwell, Southall, Hayes & Harlington and West Drayton.

 TfL is also paying for Heathrow Connect to provide a 2 trains per hour service (from 00:45 to 04:15), calling at Ealing Broadway, West Ealing, Hanwell and Southall, giving a 4 trains per hour service to Hayes & Harlington.

I'm guessing that these trains will be running on New Year's DAY - in the early hours - and not on New Year's Eve as stated?

My guess is this part of the Oyster▸ (Smartcard system used by passengers on Transport for London services) Card area coverage, West Drayton being the outer limit of FGW▸ (First Great Western) running on to Slough is I suspect more an operational convenience

They've been running a similar service for many years. One year there was absolute chaos when no drivers were rostered for the additional trains, but hopefully that isn't the case this year!

Nothing to do with Oyster AFAICS▸ ('as far as I can see') - TfL» (Transport for London - about) simply hire in a few trains, and have done it for a few years - this FGW service may be less well known though.  SWT▸ (South West Trains) run some to places like Kingston overnight as well, and they aren't in the Oyster pre pay system yet.

I think it dates to the GLA encouraging everyone to congregate in Trafalgar Square, so TfL was obliged to do something about the travel chaos afterwards...

Pretty sure i read on national rail enquiries site that trains are also running as far as Reading... didn't say anything about it being free mind.

Some will go as far as Reading, but it won't be free, TfL» (Transport for London - about) are only paying as far as Slough.

A valid ticket or Oyster▸ (Smartcard system used by passengers on Transport for London services) Card (valid to West Drayton) will be required.
