I think this is the best place to post this.

A couple of queries regarding the XC▸ (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) HST▸ (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units))'s that have been bugging me of late.

Does anyone know where XC got the HST's from.  If they were so readily available, surely FGW▸ (First Great Western) would have got them, long before XC!

Also, since the introduction of XC HST's, the voyagers from the diagrams they have took up, seem to have dissappeared into thin air!  Surely XC now have spare voyagers to run extra services to/from the South West etc.  I havn't noticed any new services these voyagers have took up!!

The stock was converted from virgin wcml stock. A number of 221s went to Virgin too.

Two HST▸ (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) coaching rakes were from EMT» (East Midlands Trains - about), as they were surplus to requirement along with five power cars. The other five power cars were brought out of store and were in a very bad condition. The other two coaching rakes were converted from ex LHCS▸ (Locomotive Hauled Coaching Stock) MK3s.
As for the reason for no extra diagrams, the five HSTs directly replaced five Class 221s that went to Virgin in December.

I wonder what Virgin are doing with their Voyagers, as they seem to have enough spare for Shrewsbury this and Chiltern Blockade that!

Currently lots of services are double voyagers, extensions are just half of a double voyager going somewhere with the other half going to the usual destination. When they need to divert via the Chiltern route they have low stock demand due to the engineering work so they can run them using voyagers.

Yep, we lost our daily Edinburgh to Euston and return back in December 2007. Recently we had Pendolino's on Edinburgh - Lockerbie shuttles due to work on the WCML▸ (West Coast Main Line)! Bit of a waste of resources for one stop!
