"If you've got a question about how this forum's running, or a problem with how you're using it, please ask in this section". Which is all well and good to say, except if the question is about problems you're having with logging in to the forum in the first place, or posting / sending messages.  Grin

If you are logged in and able to post, that's far and away the best way to get help.  Should you want to raise (our of the public view) a matter that relates to a current thread, you can use the "Notify" button that reaches all the moderators, so that the next one around can deal with the matter.  Or of course you can send a private message to any moderator / admin / member of your choice - but if your 'chosen one' happens to be working in Newry for the week, you may have to wait for an answer.

If you aren't able to log in or post or send a personal message, have a look through the standard answers that are posted around here ... the most common problems (and they are shared by many forums) are:

a) If you have an AOL account, you'll probably need to copy and paste the link from the email you'll have received when you registered into your browser to proceed

b) If you need to log in, there are some circumstances in which the "you got it wrong - try again" box will not work.  Start again from the home page at:
http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/coffeeshop/index.php
and enter your user name and password into the boxes under "Welcome Guest ..."

c) If you have only just signed up, or have emailed one of the administrators because the automated password reminder system isn't sufficient to clear the problem, you may simply need to be patient. Authorising and sorting out such access issues is a manual process.

Finally, If you're still not able to access the forum sufficiently to post or send a personal message to ask for assisitance, you're welcome to send me an email.   My email address is graham@wellho.net and I have taken a calculated decision to make it publicly available.  It provides a route of last resort - a safety net, if you like - when the other options aren't appropriate / available to you.

If you email, please give me time to answer - I'm away from time to time, and I even when I'm back, I may need to check with the rest of the moderator team if a new issue has been raised. If there's likely to be a significant delay due to this, I will of course let you know.

Do you have something you would like to add to this thread, or would you like to raise a new question at the Coffee Shop? Please [register] (it is free) if you have not done so before, or login (at the top of this page) if you already have an account - we would love to read what you have to say!

You can find out more about how this forum works [here] - that will link you to a copy of the forum agreement that you can read before you join, and tell you very much more about how we operate. We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity. Views expressed in posts are not necessarily the views of the operators of the forum.

As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish. And once members have made a certain number of posts, they will automatically be admitted to the "frequent posters club", where subjects not-for-public-domain are discussed; anything from the occasional rant to meetups we may be having ...
