No tickets available - yet train calls at both X and C

On Mondays to Fridays, an FGW^▸ (First Great Western) train - probably a 150 - calls at X at 18:12, then runs to Y where it pauses from 18:19 to 18:23 before continuing on its route, to make calls at Z (always) A and B (on request) and at C at 18:32.  But although it's a through train, when I ask the journey planner for times / fares for a journey from X to C after 17:30, it tells me that no tickets are available.   Why is this?

With a lack of smileys I can't be sure that was an intentional joke referencing CrossCountry routes, but nonetheless, you made I laff, relex.

I'm guessing either the origin is "set down only" or the destination is "pick up only".

Neither of those, nor anything to do with Cross Country (I hadn't noted the reference in what I writted to set the question).   It's in "the lighter side" - I suspect that it's not a glitch.

It is two separate services in the timetable, and there isn't time between them for the standard connection time at that station?

May I suggest that it would be cheaper and quicker to just walk from Ferry Road to Victoria Road.

Here's a similar one, which I 've been meaning to ask for a while. Also in FGW^▸ (First Great Western) territory.

I'm travelling with my companion when the train I'm on stops at A. I get off, and wave to my companion as it leaves. I then set off in the same broad direction as the train went, and a brisk 20 minute walk later arrive at station B, a mile away. A few minutes later, a trains arrives from broadly the same direction as I've come. Yes it's the same train that I got off, on the same service, and sure enough, my companion is still on it. 

I didn't pass or go near any other stations on the way.

Where are A and B?

Here's a similar one, which I 've been meaning to ask for a while. Also in FGW^▸ (First Great Western) territory.

If there is a delay at WOS^» (Worcester Shrub Hill - next trains) or it arrives on time - A is WOS and B is WOF

Where are A and B? 

Not what I was thinking about. Trains would have to wait a long time at St Davids, and you don't really walk in the broad directions that the train departed and arrived.
