New Civil Engineer lets you read a certain number of articles over a period before it Firewalls you.   I too was sufficiently disinterested in their content to be able to see it earlier.

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Been to Oxford this morning. Saw what I could of the works as the train pulled into the station. I would guess they are going to need a man with a very big stick if it going to be completed by Aug 24th.

Interesting, as Network Rail are quoted in today's Oxford Mail saying that they are on target to complete by August 31st, and possibly earlier.

All looking OK to my eyes.  The new southern walk/cycle way is now open.  Though no cycling yet unless you’re a VIP and ignore the signs, as the northern walkway is now being worked on…and is unlikely to make the end of August deadline as previously acknowledged.  No major issue there IMHO▸ ('in my humble opinion').

When both are open I am guessing cyclists will be guided to use the northern walkway into Oxford and the southern walkway out towards Botley…but I’m sure many will stay on the road.

Works on the road look quite near completion now with the concrete flood protection finished so not much other than the road surface and associated furniture to lay.

I’m sure it’ll continue to look like a bit of a building site for a while to come, but I see no obvious reason why this latest, much delayed, deadline can’t be met.
