While I would like to think this one is more obscure than my previous efforts to bemuse you all, I do accept that it will probably be solved fairly soon by you knowledgeable lot!

However: Where was I, yesterday, when I took this picture?

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Hmm.  I knew that wouldn't last too long. Embarrassed Roll Eyes

Not the Stroudwater, but the Severn and Thames Canal: it's the Daneway portal of the Sapperton Canal Tunnel.  More details are on wikipedia.

By the way, I can heartily recommend the pub where we had lunch yesterday, if anyone finds themself in that area: the Daneway Inn.  Excellent beer and food!
