I was wondering if there was there a problem with more than one train this morning?

The 9.03 Maidenhead to Paddington was 2 cars instead of 3.. As soon as we got on the train the driver apologised for the overcrowding (although to be honest it wasn't bad as it was a Friday so less busy than other days) and said it was because the original 3 car train had failed and that the 2 car train was all the was available..

However when I'd first arrived at the station there were two other trains (once was the 9.06 to Oxford.. the other was sometime after that) that were shown on the indicator board as short formed too..

Since this is quite unusual these days I just wondered what had happened.. I guess it could just be one failed train that could make one or two other also have to be shorter as a knock on effect?

One failed unit and others in the shop for their refurb perhaps?
