Evening Grin

I plan to make a Journey to Rugby in April 17th, returning on the 18th. I expect to be starting the journey from London.

Can anyone suggest any split tickets or little money savers on this journey? I want to avoid Advance tickets if I can help it.

There will be 2 of us, travelling First Class with railcard Wink

Who do you want to travel with ?  Virgin trains or London Midland. Having done this journey a couple of times I very much doubt if there are any splits that will help you. The problem is that  virgin trains services are first stop Rugby so splitting tickets wont help you.  Advance will be the best way to go.

London Midland will probably be cheaper but do you want to spend your time seeing the joys of Northampton.

Thanks super tm Wink

I don't mind travelling with London Midland. In all honesty, My personal experiences of Vermin Trains aren't great... So I'm tempted to sit on a Desiro for an extra hour just to spite them... Roll Eyes Travel is not time critical nor during the peak, so I may end up booking an advanced ticket anyway.

Do London Midland offer weekend first at all??

Not according to National Rail Enquiries, I'm afraid. I was actually quite surprised about how short that list is - didn't realize so many companies have "opted out", although of course it's not applicable in all cases since some of them are standard class only.
