ITV are looking for commuters with a story....

Quote
Train commuters wanted for ITV series

ITV is looking for people to take part in a programme about our railways.

Do you have train travel nightmares? Do you regularly use the trains and find the service disappointing? Is your daily commute overcrowded and overpriced?

Have you got any video footage of your travel experiences? Would you be happy to be interviewed and record your train journeys?

I'm not familiar with the route, but isn't Reading-London frequently highlighted by these programs?

It is, but personally I disagree with it being "commuter hell" yes you may be standing on a train for 25mins, but generally other than that the service is fine unless something really goes wrong.

Between Paddington and Reading I have seen people choose to stand.

I think they want to hear about the times when you don't just have to stand, but you barely have space to stand in, let alone breath.. I still really don't like that.. And it seems to happen on FGW (First Great Western).. I'm sure it happens on other train companies trains.. So I guess it could be totally unbiased if everyone tells them their stories.. We'll see... I suppose it's down to personal taste, but I find the service provided by ITV more disappointing than any rail company...and that's saying something!

Actually, the observation that people are inclined to view regular standing for 25 minutes as "normal" or "acceptable" is an interesting insight into the shortcomings of our advanced (?) economy and society.

It is personal choice I agree, personally I don't mind standing - although when I was standing from Euston to Warrington (it was a Sunday) I got a bit tired, seeing as I hadn't had sleep due to doing an overnight excercise in the Severn Tunnel. (self inflicted tiredness)

Will said show have Simon Cowell involvement I wonder? "The X(press train) factor" anyone?

Generally try and give ITV a miss, perhaps BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page) should jump on the bandwagon and provide a higher quality documentary.

Overnight exercise in the Severn Tunnel? Did it involve press-ups? Pray tell..... Wink
