The Great Western Railway and Paddington Borough Prize Silver Band was established long before 1923. The Great Western Railway Staff Military Band was founded about this time and would give Concerts on the Station Lawn. The Great Western Railway was nationalised in 1948 to become British Railway Western Region and during the 1990s was privatised to become Network Rail and First Great Western.

Friday Evening Band Concerts in the Station from 7.30pm

A different and varied Programme is performed each week of Marches, Selections from the Shows, arrangements from the Classics and Popular Tunes.

Thank you, grahame, for those images.  My appreciation to the Great Western Railway Paddington Band.

I have posted this item from youtube before, but I will now do so again - simply because I'm still not entirely convinced it's not what grahame does, on his very occasional days off from the railways.  Anyone who has met grahame will note the distinctive element of his frontage.

Please enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxXdrsvEtnU  Chris from Nailsea, via Cornwall.
