The Thames Valley stations are in the SDO database so there will be IET stop boards on all the platforms and no problem stopping there with IET’s of any length.

I can’t recall seeing IET Stop Boards on the DR at Pangbourne – both trains must have gone DR to call at Pangbourne – and presumably SDO was required as the DR platform at Pangbourne is only 8 X Class 387 coaches, and at least one of the Padd – Bristol trains was a 9 car IET.
So there must have been a plan on exactly where the train would stop and which doors would be opened – was there a plan already in place or was it invented on the day?

And I remember the day that some trains called at Ealing Broadway ... and Hayes and Harlington would make huge sense for Heathrow ...
The numbers of passengers from West of Reading that would want to change at Hayes and Harlington for Heathrow would be very small, but the number of passengers at Hayes and Harlington that would want to get onto the Intercity trains to Padd or even Reading would be extremely high causing delays and grumpy passengers from / to West of Reading; and then how many trains a day?
