The Telegraph piece does mention City AM as their source - I did go to their website and would have posted a link to that if I'd been able to find it. Well done TG

Hmm. I read it rather more as the Telegraph with an anti-Labour story. As if they would do such a thing.

Train cancellations surged by 50 per cent when the Government nationalised South Western Railway (SWR) earlier this year.
Both delays and cancellations rose after the May 2025 takeover of SWR by the government.
Labour promised in its election manifesto to take control of all privately-run trains in the country.
Cancellations rose 50 per cent in the three months after the government took over the company, as compared with the start of the year.
Delay minutes per 100 miles rose by 29 per cent between June and August, business newspaper City AM reported.
It added that the number of services arriving between 30 minutes and an hour late had more than doubled since the state took control.
