Hmm.  I knew that wouldn't last too long.

Not the Stroudwater, but the Severn and Thames Canal: it's the Daneway portal of the Sapperton Canal Tunnel.  More details are on wikipedia.

By the way, I can heartily recommend the pub where we had lunch yesterday, if anyone finds themself in that area: the Daneway Inn.  Excellent beer and food!
