The only thing I can think of is that Bristol City F.C. are playing at lunchtime.

So maybe a few too many Supporters.

Safety checks???  Whats that all about?  And why would that cause an additionla stop?

That is correct, City are playing at home to Cardiff City in a lunchtime kick-off.

A very badly worded way of saying that an engineering possession on the relief lines has been handed back early, so trains can call there - Pangbourne doesn't have platforms on the fast lines, unlike the other stations between Reading and Didcot.

What, Pangbourne? Parson St definitely for the football. Even when we only had one train a day there use to be a scheduled stop of an up train around 2pm on Saturdays..... probably was a ghost stop when we weren't at home. Anyway good to see First were providing for those N Somerset fans who want a good three hours drinking before the early kick off.... come to think of it, they probably wanted them off the train before reaching Temple Meads!

No I was thinking that the additonal stop at Parson Street was to do with the Bath Half Marathon, Could it be a combination of both the marathon and the football...??

Although if there was a game on today, then I would have said it would be to do with the football as Parson Street Station is about a miles walk from the stadium!

I'm sure someone within the realms of FGW▸ (First Great Western) land will have the answer Wink Tongue Grin

As an aside i'm about to experience the delights of a train via Bath Spa, Trout hopes it won't be too busy Wink

No, because no-one in Bedminster has heard of the Bath Half Marathon, so there's no reason why Parson St would be the only station in the region to have an extra service for it. Where as there is a long history of Parson St being used by football fans. On Saturdays and weekday evenings there are scheduled services that cater for them, but this weekend's game was moved to Sunday for the Sky cameras.
