Save The Train keeps a close eye on the reliability of Trans Wilts Line trains (click on http://www.savethetrain.org.uk/fulltime.html)

What would be great would be if passengers could tell us whether trains marked as "No Report" actually ran or not.

The 07:17 from Melksham ran this morning.  It was late.  The information point on the platform anounced that it was running until 07:17.  Then there was no reply when you pressed the button, it just rang out for ages.  Then once it had finally stopped ringing and we pressed the button again we got a message saying there wasn't a train for 99 mins.  We rang National Rail Enquires and were told that the train was running 9 mins late.  When it arrived the conductor told us that FGW (First Great Western) hadn't told the conductor who was supposed to working the service that he/she was.  The conductor who was working the service as a last minute stand in.  The lack of information from the information point is a real drag.

"Digital Dorris" (what we call the Wessex Stations Passenger Info system) has a habbit of doing this. If a train does not "Report" at "your" location within FOUR minutes of the expected time then it will automaticlly vanish

Well I'm shocked.  The 18:58 from Chippenham ran last night and was only its usual 4 mins late and the 07:17 ran this morning again only a few mins late.  (Information point rang out unanswered so not much use).  Things are looking up??

You can call me an old cynic, but I wonder if the new service in December was made so AWFUL intentionally ... with the powers that be knowing that it would then get better and hoping it would be the getting better we woudl remember.  What do you think?

I've not forgotten the 07:45 Melsksham to Swindon, the 09:11 arrival, the 17:02 departure and the arrival at 18:09 from Swindon .... and I would rather like them, or something better, back!

Yesterday was a good day.

As I posted yesterday, the morning train turned up only a few mins late and last night, for the first time in my experiance, the 18:58 was on time at Chippenham.  I've noted it in my diary!!!
