The 07:17 from Melksham ran this morning. It was late. The information point on the platform anounced that it was running until 07:17. Then there was no reply when you pressed the button, it just rang out for ages. Then once it had finally stopped ringing and we pressed the button again we got a message saying there wasn't a train for 99 mins. We rang National Rail Enquires and were told that the train was running 9 mins late. When it arrived the conductor told us that FGW▸ hadn't told the conductor who was supposed to working the service that he/she was. The conductor who was working the service as a last minute stand in. The lack of information from the information point is a real drag.
"Digital Dorris" (what we call the Wessex Stations Passenger Info system) has a habbit of doing this. If a train does not "Report" at "your" location within FOUR minutes of the expected time then it will automaticlly vanish
