From FGW (First Great Western) JourneyCheck:

Quote
Line problem: between Oxford and Banbury.
Owing to a person hit by a train between Oxford and Banbury all lines are blocked.

Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 mins at short notice. An estimate for the resumption of normal services will be provided as soon as the problem has been fully assessed.

Road transportation has been sourced for travel for First Great Western passengers from Oxford to/from Tackley, Heyford, Kings Sutton and Banbury.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Ahh, that's a bit more informative than NRE (National Rail Enquiries) managed via twitter:

OK, 140 character limit, but I was expecting the ... to be followed by another tweet. Nothing came. I'll forgive them the typo as well.

As with all such events: our thoughts are with the staff involved, and the family and friends of the person.  Sad

Ollie and I had a little argument with NRE about the '...'. NRE say that it is to say; more available by following the link. Ollie & I disagree and think it looks wrong!

Going off topic (and I suspect this is an embarrassingly rookie question) but what's the significance of the #fb hashtag?

It automatically posts to/from facebook when you are using certain Social Network engines.
