Just attempted to purchase a Gold Card First Class Supplement for ^5 on a Reading - Southend Victoria Ticket...

The chap who sold me the ticket was incredibly helpful and managed to find the Supplement titled: NFA - 1st Class Supplement in his Avantix (Ticket Issuing System used on board trains). Great (Infact this is the first FGW (First Great Western) member of staff who has managed to find said supplement)

In actuality the Supplement came to ^10 as it issued me both the Outward and Return Portion (Ticket was STD SVR RDG (Rail Delivery Group, or Reading station, depending on context) - SOV at ^25.70)

Anyhow. When the ticket actually printed, it showed as an identical SVR Return Product but the price was ^10.00 and a discount code of RCAAA...

Oh dear... Not so good. I reckon though it will possibly be ok as it does show that the supplement is ^10 for a return (^5 each way). I really cannot fault the chap for trying as he was ever so good Grin But for future reference, is this the actual way that FGW Avantix Machines print them OR did we go wrong somewhere??

Anyhow, When I get to PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains) I will try and see if they can endorse the tickets with an FGW stamp Grin

But if the chap who sold me this combination does read this (You'll know who you are if I say I split my tix in 2 places Wink ). Nothing against you - purely for my future reference and your patience and kindness really did put a smashing end to my working week! (Because I've had a horrible one Sad ) So thanks Grin Letter will be on it's way to FGW towers Grin

If its an open return you wanted that's ok :-) I suspect the price is input manually on that one

Hmm yes I see what you're saying relex.

If the supplement was for a ticket there and back in the same day it should be ^5. However that being said, there were a few day returns for that journey which I suspect would've generated a ^5 upgrade as opposed to ^10.

In this case I was travelling back the next day (today infact) so ^10 was the correct upgrade price.

It was really weird that it came out as an identical ticket with a discount code of RCAAA which is an Animals and Associated Articles excess on a discounted ticket. The only problem was that it didn't show what extra price was for on top of the SVR ^25.70 ticket. Also it didn't show the correct class. That being said also, it does sometimes print as a STD ticket with Gold Card 1st Supp printed on it which has caused confusion before.

Fortunately in this case the guard on the train back from PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains) - RDG (Rail Delivery Group, or Reading station, depending on context) after I explained did understand after I showed him another supplement from SOU - SOV.

I will upload the pictures at some point between the 2 tickets and then you'll see why I was tiss about it. I guess however as I didn't encouter GreaterAnglia's Revenue Team (And they do have a habit of popping up generally always when I'm distracted by a passing Class 90 Set Grin ). I sharn't worry about it too much Grin

Yet another knot in the Gordian knot that our fares have become.

Where is Alexander.

Even Simon's (see post http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/coffeeshop/index.php?topic=11366.0) 10 ideas didn't really solve the complexity issue.

Haven't scanned the piccys in yet.

But I did a 1st Gold Card Supplement from Newbury - Southend Victoria last Saturday (Which Ollie knows all about the following Tuesday Shocked Cheesy Wink Sorry Chap Wink ) Again on an FGW (First Great Western) Train and the supplement printed exactly as it should've done.

So between me and the TM (Train Manager, or Ticket Machine, or Temple Meads (Bristol), depending on context) between us c**ked it up a bit I guess Roll Eyes Huh Cool
