Apparently they didn't want to go through the effort of removing the fences again, and even with the fences removed apparently she only had millimetres to spare, loco too big being the issue.

This story about the refurbishment of Aberdeen turntable may prove an inspiration to those trying to save St Blazey.

Members might be interested to learn about https://www.mpowerkernow.org/ , a Community Interest Company centred on the historic turntable at St Blazey yard, of which I am keenly involved.


The project enjoys strong and significant support nationally, locally, and within the rail industry, and huge progress has been made with the site.  Next on the agenda is the refurbishment to an operational condition of the turntable.

The website gives a great overview, but I am happy to answer queries here.
