Eh? It's only ever been part-roofed hasn't it? Open to the elements at one end to allow for smoke and steam egress in days of yore.

Bit of a catch question that, using two views of the same station which rather unusually has fairly different building designs on the two sides!  Were they built some years apart, does anyone know?

Correct. This entrance is on the 'town side' where most domestic passengers enter and exit.
