I'll leave the floor open for other pointless signs... But this one did make me wonder... And of course, a certain irony that it was a good ponder whilst in the throne room Lips sealed Grin Tongue Roll Eyes Shocked

I am always bemused by this sign on Platform 1 at Weston Super Mare.

"Should you require any assistance... please feel free to ask a member of staff... on Platform 2"

In other words - if you need any help getting up these stairs, please go up the stairs, over the bridge, down another flight of stairs, find a member of staff and ask them to help you. Er.

Pointless, and very frustrating for anyone with mobility issues.  Couldn't they have provided a number you could ring from your mobile, to call for assistance? Angry

This used to be the case at Chippenham for a while. If you needed to access the Platforms via step free access, you'd need to be taken across the track on a crossing escorted by staff member. Where we the staff members to be found?? In the office on the Island Platforms if the ticket office was closed... Roll Eyes Angry Cheesy

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

So, that rules out Class 90s being dead hauled off the AC (Alternating Current, or can mean Air Conditioning, depending on context. The second meaning is often used in a railway context and more generally) then?

Thanks: I merely thought it was an amusing coincidence, both of the original pictures appearing on the Coffee Shop forum at much the same time.  Wink Cheesy Grin
