I shall watch this after tiffin, maybe sitting on my TV (Thames Valley, or TeleVision, depending on context) for authenticity. I'll need help with my jodhpurs, though!

You could instead wear khaki, and carry on up the Khyber.  Tongue

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

As a series, I think the production values and the human interest has been absolutely outstanding.
The optimism, resilience and positively radiated by the people relying on these trains was truly humbling. Full marks to the production team for giving us a insight into parts of  the world that so often just seem  to be associated with bad news. When you see what they have to travel on, and what they have to put up with, it makes our gripes with Pacers etc seem very very insignificant indeed!

The ticket collector trying to get the extra fares from those who didn't realise they were in first class ... and the fare evader who said he'd never had to pay before ... all very familiar somehow ...
