Over the Bank Holiday weekend there will be six walking tours of "Brunel's Bristol" over three days (unfortunately timed to coincide with the planned FGW^▸ (First Great Western) strike).

Tours available: 29, 30 and 31 August at 9.30am and 1.30pm.

Price: ^20 per person. Pre-booking essential.

Celebrate the 175th anniversary of Temple Meads Station with an exclusive tour of Brunel's masterpieces in Bristol.

Brunel's ss Great Britain and Network Rail are offering unique, guided walking tours of two of Brunel's greatest achievements. See behind-the-scenes at Bristol Temple Meads Station followed by a ferry journey to the Great Western Dockyard, where Mr. Brunel will lead a guided tour of the ss Great Britain.

Tours are 2 ^ hours in duration, starting at Bristol Temple Meads Station and ending at Brunel's ss Great Britain. The tour includes going behind-the-scenes at Bristol Temple Meads Station, a one-way ferry trip from the station to the ship, and a tour of Brunel's ss Great Britain with Mr Brunel. Included in the price, your entry ticket to Brunel's ss Great Britain includes free unlimited return visits for a year.

Looks good, although I've seen behind the scenes at Bristol Temple Meads, and been on the Gert Biggun.

If anyone does this tour I'd also recommend afterwards a walk round the Floating Harbour and Underfall Yard, both also Brunel creations.

And if you're really energetic, a walk up the zigzag path from Hotwells to the Spenshun Bridge. That footpath starts near the bottom station of the (not Brunel creation) derelict Clifton Rocks Railway.

bobm - a big thank you! As a direct result of seeing your post I booked the BTM^▸ (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI) but BTM is a commonly used alternative))/ss Great Britain tour and enjoyed the day immensely. The BTM tour not only included the tunnels beneath the station, but also the former offices in the original station building. The ss Great Britain tour included a look around Brunel's drawing office which is not normally open to the public. Despite the rail strike the trains to and from Bristol ran on time!
