In the 1970s, the best way to travel across the English Channel was with British Rail, and on a hovercraft. Of the hovercraft that used to travel across the English Channel, the huge SRN4 class were the most famous, but now their future is in doubt.

As developers move in with bulldozers, the Hovercraft Museum Trust is this evening fighting desperately to save one of the two remaining cross channel SRN4 hovercraft from destruction. ...

Great shame I've just watched The Princess Margaret  on the TV^▸ (Thames Valley, or TeleVision, depending on context) this afternoon
She's the hovercraft that Bond uses to cross the channel in Diamonds are Forever and the one that's going to be scrapped

Potential here for a museum about stuff no one has any interest in, I'm afraid.   What would be the 'wow factor' encouraging visitors - assuming they are going to have to pay?

From the sea front road at Lee on Solent the two large craft look as though they have just been abandoned exactly where they were put when they first arrived.
