Oh goodness ... I remember going into Hooters in Birmingham - goodness - about 20 years ago just after it had opened.

The BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page)'s Midland news channel was in their interviewing customers ... and I can imagine why they chose us.  Perhaps 'cos Lisa was the only female customer in the place!

Yes please - can we have a Hooters in Swindon?   Love the wings - two customers guaranteed!

I must admit I was disappointed. I live less than half a mile as the crow files from the old works and I could barely hear today's test.

Reading local histories it seems the original hooter was heard over a wide area. I'm pretty sure if I'd been indoors I wouldn't have heard it at all.

I was born in Swindon and even though we left there when I was 4 we used to go back and  stay at my Grandparents a lot after that  and I got used to hearing the hooter and it was quite loud  (that was in Ferndale road so quite close to the works relatively I believe)
