A friend is travelling tomorrow from Birmingham to Newton Abbot, and wants to travel on the 1317 from New Street, which appears to be an HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)). No reservations are available, so can anyone kindly advise where the unreserved seats are on a XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) HST. Thanks.

To avoid any ambiguity -- reservations are/were available on this train but they appear to have all been taken up.

Why not do a 10 minute reservation?

Text TMR BHM NTA» (Newton Abbott - next trains) 1317 to 88008.

Can you get these on the HSTs (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) which have manual reservations?

Not sure why reservations can't be made, just tried to make a dummy booking and it's letting me select a seat.
At present coach C only has one reserved seat in it, keep in mind that this is the coach where reservations can be made while the train is in service. Coach D is almost fully reserved with coaches E&G 2/3 reserved. Coach F is only showing around 1/3 reserved and reservations can't be made for that carriage once traditional reservations close at midnight.

Thank you for that very useful update, readytostart.  Smiley

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.
