Feeling a bit squashed on the train in the South West?

All the off lease Adelantes (Class 180^s) from FGW^▸ (First Great Western) are now in store in the West Midlands at Oxley, Wolverhampton.

The pictures appear to have been taken by an employee of ATW^▸ (Arriva Trains Wales (former Train Operating Company)) or possibly Alstom from inside of Oxley depot. The units appear to be more hidden from public view than the stuff at Eastleigh last year presumably to avoid embarrassment.

London Midland Birmingham New St to Shrewsbury stoppers and ATW Birmingham New ST to Chester or Aberystwyth/Pwllheli services run through the site.

The website also has the depressing news that a freight flow has stopped- from Anglesey Aluminium the customer in Austria prefers to pay east European lorry drivers peanuts to work very long shifts ^ there^s a lot of concern about safety on the A55 across N Wales.

Also noted at Oxley was the DRS^» (Direct Rail Services Ltd, a national rail freight operator providing a range of services with its head office in Carlisle and depots at the South East, York, Crewe, Sellafield, and Scotland. - about) passenger rake, with several coaches re-branded with Stobart logos: the Steady Eddie train! Apparently Stobart will be running 'Pullman' charters under the name 'Stobart EXpress.'

Couldn't agree more when I saw the picture of the MK3 Stobart Express Coaches. Oh how the DFT^▸ (Department for Transport) must wish they weren't sold off a couple of years back.

The longer those 180s sit there at Oxley the more the press will jump on the fact that in their view 'perfectly serviceable' trains are sitting there whilst overcrowding affects many parts of the country.
