It's not quite clear from the pics within the linked article, but is this going to be on the site of the existing depot, immediately to the west of the station platforms?

I think there is a previous thread with more details.  Can't remember when.

TC (Train Crew, or Travelling Chef, depending on context), yes, if you know Exeter the road crossing depicted in the second image is Red Cow Croosing just before trains enter Exeter St. Davids station. The view of the station is that looking south towards Newton Abbott.

Thanks Stuving, that would be the one. Perhaps a friendly Mod could join them together some time.   Smiley

Yes, I'm familiar with that crossing that goes over about 6 tracks. Location makes sense now, thanks.

I'm asking as I have some younger family members in Student Accommodation very close by!

Men in orange gear were on site yesterday doing preliminary site clearance. Don't think the El Big Boss was one of them!

Would include a picture if only I knew how to :-(

Staff told me that, in connection with the site work, platform 6 at Exeter will be shut for a couple of weekends in February.

Regular users in Devon might be noticing a marked decline in the quality of the trains lately - namely more frequent lack of toilet facilities, general shoddy looking interiors etc.

This is because the depot is now too small to accommodate all the regular units and several are having to be out-stabled at either Newton Abbot, Exeter Central or in St David's platforms meaning apart from being fuelled (and sometimes not even that), they aren't getting tanked or emptied, nor having deep cleaning or non safety-critical maintenance.
